ZUG, Switzerland, Dec. 4, 2018 — ODEM, creator of the On-Demand Education Marketplace, is pleased to announce a preliminary cooperation agreement with Looker Education Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. ahead of the launch of the ODEM Platform.

Looker and ODEM will jointly develop and manage short-term educational courses on the campuses of U.S. institutions such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University, said Richard Maaghul, ODEM’s Chief Executive Officer. Looker courses will eventually be marketed through the ODEM Platform, a global education portal. Looker students will also receive blockchain-based certificates of achievement upon course completion.

“I’m delighted to welcome Looker Education as an early adopter on the ODEM Platform,” Maaghul said. “Looker has an excellent reputation for acting in the best interests of its students and educators.”

ODEM is developing the ODEM Platform to use blockchain technology to streamline the organization and delivery of academic courses and experiences. The Platform empowers students to customize their education through interaction with educators. Committed to making education more accessible, affordable, transferable, and verifiable, ODEM plans to roll out the Platform in February 2019.

“We’re excited to be involved in the development of the ODEM Platform,” said Looker Education’s Executive Director Kevin Cang. “We’re looking forward to using the Platform to increase awareness of Looker Education and our course offerings.”

ODEM’s agreement with Looker signifies a strengthening of ties between leaders of the two companies. Looker has been a valued customer and partner of Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Excelorators Inc., an established organizer of international training courses and a sister company of ODEM.

Looker, which specializes in providing education experiences for university students from China, is preparing to offer two courses at Harvard and one at MIT from Jan. 21-28, 2019. The Harvard offerings will focus on business and entrepreneurship, while the course at MIT will concentrate on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) content.

Established in 2006, Looker’s mission is to develop international programs with top overseas universities in partnership with universities in China. Looker has been working with institutions in thirty-five Chinese cities, conducting programs for more than 10,000 students. Most of Looker’s partner universities in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are ranked in the Top 50 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Rankings. Looker’s overseas partners include New York University, UCLA, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Sydney, National University of Singapore, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong, and National Taiwan University.
