VALLETTA, Malta — Nov. 6, 2018 – ODEM CEO Richard Maaghul emerged optimistic about the future of the blockchain industry in Malta after a meeting last week with Joseph Muscat, the country’s Prime Minister.

Maaghul, accompanied by Dr. Adel ElMessiry, ODEM’s Chief Technology Mentor, and Johanna Maaghul, the company’s Chief Integrator, congratulated Prime Minister Muscat on Malta’s efforts to become a global hub for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency issuance.

“We’re grateful for Prime Minister Muscat’s leadership in creating the right economic conditions for the blockchain and digital currency industry to thrive,” Maaghul said after the Nov. 1 meeting at the historic Auberge de Castille in Valletta, the capital city. “I’m optimistic about Malta’s future as a financial center.”

Malta, known as Blockchain Island, has enacted three pieces of legislation this year to encourage cyber investors and leading companies to establish operations in the Mediterranean archipelago. ODEM executives were in Malta to attend the Malta Blockchain Summit, a major industry event.

During the half-hour meeting, Maaghul discussed the state of blockchain education in Malta and briefed the Prime Minister on Zug, Switzerland-based ODEM’s development of the ODEM Platform, a global education marketplace.

Maaghul said ODEM is looking forward to further developing its relationship with Prime Minister Muscat and the blockchain industry in Malta.
